SpatialTalents was established by a group of passionate geospatial professionals who recognised a critical gap in Africa's spatial intelligence ecosystem — a shortage of trained professionals, limited access to cutting-edge tools, and fragmented communities working in isolation.
Since our founding, we have been committed to closing this gap by creating accessible, high-quality training programs, forging strategic partnerships, and fostering a pan-African network of geospatial practitioners.
From our beginnings with a small cohort of trainees, we have grown into an organisation spanning more than 2 African countries, training hundreds of professionals and supporting institutions to integrate geospatial technologies into their core workflows.

SpatialTalents is a professional learning and networking community for people interested in geospatial technology, GIS, remote sensing, data science, machine learning, cloud, software engineering, and related digital skills. Our goal is to create a supportive space where members can learn, share opportunities, collaborate, and grow together.
By joining the community, members are expected to follow the guidelines below.
Treat each other with respect, regardless of background, experience level, country, profession, gender, religion, age, or opinion. Disagreements should be handled constructively. Personal attacks, harassment, bullying, intimidation, hate speech, or discriminatory language will not be tolerated.
Share useful resources, ask questions, answer questions, contribute ideas, and support others. No question should be mocked. Beginners, students, professionals, and experts are all welcome.
Posts should relate to GIS, remote sensing, earth observation, data science, machine learning, web mapping, software development, cloud, DevOps, databases, career development, jobs, internships, scholarships, learning opportunities, SpatialTalents events, projects, and announcements.
Do not spam the group with repeated messages, advertisements, links, or promotions. Sharing useful work, events, tools, courses, and opportunities is welcome when it serves the community and is not misleading or excessive.
When sharing jobs, scholarships, grants, events, datasets, tools, or technical resources, try to ensure the information is accurate and useful. Avoid fake opportunities, misleading claims, unverified announcements, or harmful links.
Do not share another person's private information without permission. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, private messages, documents, photos, workplace information, or personal details. Screenshots from private conversations should not be posted without consent.
Do not share content that promotes illegal activity, fraud, piracy, hacking, plagiarism, exploitation, or unethical professional behavior. This includes cracked software, stolen datasets, unauthorized credentials, or copyrighted materials without permission.
Communicate clearly and respectfully. Avoid offensive language, aggressive tone, unnecessary arguments, or repeated disruptive comments. When asking technical questions, provide enough context so others can help.
Admins and moderators help keep the space organized, respectful, and useful. Members are expected to respect reasonable admin decisions, including content removal, warnings, topic redirection, or membership actions.
Welcome new members, share learning resources, help answer questions, attend events, share opportunities, give constructive feedback, and support collaborative projects. The community grows when members contribute, not just consume.
Violations may result in a private reminder, warning, post removal, temporary restriction, community removal, or reporting where necessary. Severe misconduct, harassment, hate speech, scams, or harmful behavior may lead to immediate removal.
By joining SpatialTalents, members agree to uphold these guidelines and contribute to a professional, inclusive, and supportive community where geospatial talent can learn, connect, and grow.
