Advancing Geospatial Innovation for Africa

A not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building Africa's geospatial capacity through education, technology, and community.

Our Mission

To empower individuals, institutions, and communities through geospatial technologies by providing access to transformative knowledge, tools, and networks — building a skilled and collaborative community that drives innovation, addresses national and global challenges, and supports sustainable development across the African continent.

Our Vision

A continent where every community, institution, and individual has the geospatial knowledge and tools needed to drive informed decision-making, sustainable development, and innovation — positioning Africa at the forefront of the global geospatial revolution.

SpatialTalents team at work

"Geospatial intelligence is Africa's most underutilised tool for development."

Born from a Passion for African Development

SpatialTalents was established by a group of passionate geospatial professionals who recognised a critical gap in Africa's spatial intelligence ecosystem — a shortage of trained professionals, limited access to cutting-edge tools, and fragmented communities working in isolation.

Since our founding, we have been committed to closing this gap by creating accessible, high-quality training programs, forging strategic partnerships, and fostering a pan-African network of geospatial practitioners.

From our beginnings with a small cohort of trainees, we have grown into an organisation spanning more than 2 African countries, training hundreds of professionals and supporting institutions to integrate geospatial technologies into their core workflows.

Six Pillars of Geospatial Empowerment

01

GIS & Spatial Analysis

Training in geographic information systems, spatial data management, and cartographic analysis for environmental and development applications.

02

Remote Sensing

Satellite imagery processing, drone-based data collection, and earth observation for land use monitoring, agriculture, and disaster management.

03

GeoAI & Machine Learning

Applying deep learning to geospatial datasets for predictive analytics, automated feature extraction, and large-scale mapping at continental scale.

04

Data Analytics

Spatial data infrastructure, big data analysis, open data platforms, and visualisation tools to support evidence-based policy and planning.

05

Capacity Building

Structured training programs, workshops, online courses, and certification pathways designed to build lasting geospatial capacity at all skill levels.

06

Research & Innovation

Applied research, geospatial hackathons, and innovation challenges that address Africa's most pressing development problems using spatial intelligence.

What Guides Us

Innovation

We champion new ideas and emerging technologies that push the boundaries of what geospatial intelligence can achieve for development.

Collaboration

We believe in the power of partnerships — connecting individuals, organisations, and networks to achieve more together than alone.

Sustainability

Every program, tool, and network we build is designed to create lasting, self-sustaining capacity that outlives any single project.

Accessibility

We are committed to democratising access to geospatial knowledge and tools, ensuring no professional is left behind due to geography or resources.
